Sometimes more than just hearing an artist live, I love getting to see their personality. Fiona is a quirky, angry lady, but she has so much talent. When she talked between songs she did so in a flustered way, talking a mile a minute and moving her hands. Exactly how I'd expect someone who writes such compelling lyrics to be.
Fiona performed the perfect combination of old favorites and new songs. Have you heard her new album yet? It's good! I've gotten more into it since seeing some of the songs live.
The show was with a live band rather than just Fiona and a piano. She actually only played piano on a few songs, the rest she just sang. My favorite was Not About Love because she screamed the last chorus which sounded so amazing and full of emotion.
If you've never really listened to Fiona Apple, I recommend her! Next on my list of musicians to see live is Morrissey which may happen in November. Who's on your list?

I'd love to see Fiona Apple live! That would be so amazing. I'd also love to see Feist solo (I've seen with BSS). There's a festival Sept 1 where a lot of my favourites are playing, including Feist - so I may have to look into that.
ReplyDeleteOh I bet that was awesome. I recommend to you St. Vincent if you don't already listen to her. I had the chance to see her live at Bonnaroo and she is just amazing. Her cute quirkiness doesn't quite match her musical sound which makes her that much more interesting. I haven't listened to Fiona Apple's new album yet, but I am looking forward too. I'm just broke right now. LOL
